About us
Gateway Grains began with a simple realization at our kitchen table here in Charlotte: the flour we were using didn't match the quality of the ingredients we wanted for our family.
We had begun taking a closer look at our food. Our research led us to a startling discovery: most modern, store-bought flour is stripped of its most vital components to ensure it can sit on a shelf for months. In that process, the very things that make grain a "superfood"—the essential oils and vitamins—are discarded.
We decided to go back to the basics. We invested in a grain mill and began sourcing high-quality, whole grains to mill for ourselves. The change was immediate. We weren't just eating better; we were tasting bread, muffins, and grains as they were meant to be: rich, complex, and incredibly satisfying.
What started as a personal shift toward more intentional eating became a passion we couldn't keep to ourselves. We founded Gateway Grains to help our neighbors rediscover that "freshly milled" isn't just a health choice—it’s a culinary revolution. From the whole grains we source to the flour we mill and the goods we bake, we handle every step with the same care we give our own family. We aren't just selling an ingredient; we’re sharing the discovery that changed our table forever.
